Stonewood Construction and Painting is a closely held general contracting company specializing in residential remodels and light commercial construction. Stonewood was incorporated in February 1997, however, the principals, Clark Schaefer and Steve Frichette, have ties and experience in construction dating back to 1989.
Clark Schaefer is a third generation craftsman, involved in the construction of the 5th wooden sailing / fishing vessel by his grandfather, Clark was integrated into construction at a young age. Taught the careful art of wooden boat building by both his father and grandfather, Clark carries these traits into every project. Clark graduated from the University of Oregon with a double major in 1994.
Steve Frichette grew up in Corvallis and moved to Eugene in 1984 to attend the University of Oregon. Steve learned the construction and painting industry through experience with his family's business, Tommy's Paint Pot. He received his undergraduate degree in 1988 and went on to receive a J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1998.
Clark Schaefer and Steve Frichette began working together as house painters. Knowing the value of quality painting and good client service, the company quickly grew to be full-time, year-round work. After two years, Clark and Steve added construction and remodeling services to their company. With the expertise in construction that Clark was taught, and the production skills acquired by Steve, the company grew beyond the capabilities of just two workmen. In 1995, Tri-Co Construction opened its doors and began training employees to carry forth the tradition of quality work at affordable prices. It was only two years later that Tri-Co Construction needed to change its company standing to account for growth and larger clients including commercial construction, and Stonewood Construction, Inc. was started.
In an effort to maintain efficiency and to exemplify the tradition of quality, Stonewood's employees are finish carpenters and painters. This allows them to control the schedule and quality of the finished product. This philosophy makes Stonewood a premier remodeling firm. This tradition is the basis for Stonewood Construction, and is best exemplified by the company's motto "We Take Care of Our Clients through Building Relationships".
